Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S21 FE in the US receive October 2023 security update

Since the start of the month, the company has been rapidly distributing the October 2023 update to Galaxy devices. Initially, it has given the updates to the devices that belong to the US, then expanded it to other parts of the world. Now, it is again coming back to the US and rolling out the updates to the remaining Galaxy devices, i.e., the Galaxy S21 series and the Galaxy S21 FE.

Notably, the Galaxy S21 series device has already grabbed October 2023 for locked variants, and now Samsung is giving the update to the unlocked variant as well, which is carrying firmware version number G99*U1UES9EWI3. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S21 FE device is getting the update for both locked and unlocked variants, which come with firmware version numbers G990USQS9EWI2 and G990U1UES9EWJ1. The update is now available across all major networks, including AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon.

The October 2023 update is one of the security patch updates that comes with several new fixes that will enhance the overall security of the devices. As per the official documentation, this time the Galaxy devices have grabbed more than 40 fixes from them; 34 are added by Google that bring improvements for the Android OS, while 12 other fixes are introduced by Samsung to eradicate the issues that are excludable for Galaxy devices.

If you are using a Galaxy S21 series or Galaxy S21 FE device in the US, then you can easily update your device to the latest version. To do that, you have to go to the settings, select the software update menu, tap on the Download and Install button, and after it shows a new update available, tap on the Download button.
