Samsung Electronics purchased 107 audio-related US patents from Knowles in mid-December 2023. Undoubtedly, in the personal audio market, it is well known, and it is generally used to make top-rated audio drivers used in in-ear monitors (IEMs).

Recent reports say that it is being speculated by the data from the US Patent and Trademark Office that the Korean Electronics firm bought 107 audio-related US patents from Knowles last year. The list of 107 consists of multiple audio signal processing technologies, such as noise suppression and noise cancellation. By using these techniques, the audio performance of various audio gadgets, specifically wireless earbuds, will surely improve.

Noticeably, Knowles has two patents registered in South Korea, but the Korean tech giants did not purchase those. Back in 2023, the brand-owned Harman International took possession of Roon, which is an audiophile-grade music streaming and management service. Basically, it doesn’t require an online server since it streams music from an offline server or Hi-Res music streaming services such as Qobuz and Tidal.

It also has a music recommendation engine for grade 1. Roon works with almost all Hi-Fi music equipment makers and has excellent applications for all operating systems and platforms. Harman owns AKG, Harman, JBL, and Infinity Audio, and all of them are well-known services. Now it appears that Samsung has the strong power of Harman and Roon to build a perfectly fine audio platform that will surely take the users’ audio experience to the next level.

Back in 2023, Samsung‘s own Harman set a record of 14.39 trillion won in sales plus 1.17 trillion won in operating profit, which is a great number. As compared to the sales of 2022, in 2023 they increased by 9%, and operating profit increased by 290 billion won. In history, 2023 was the first time Harman’s operating profit exceeded 1 trillion won.
