Samsung Research America (SRA) and Princeton University are both shaking hands to develop 6G network technologies.

Samsung Research America is one of the leading research and development organizations of Korean Electronics and has also become a founding member of the NextG Initiative Corporate Affiliates Program, and now it is taking steps along with Princeton University to expand the network system by developing a 6G true wireless network.

Last year, Princeton University established the NextG Initiative to accelerate the adoption of new technologies and also increase the flow of innovation across a range of topics, which include cloud and edge networks, intelligent sensing, and many more. SRA will also work closely with Princeton University to bridge the gap between academic research and real-world applications. Plus also includes colleague corporate affiliates including Ericsson, Intel, MediaTek, Nokia Bell Labs, Qualcomm Technologies, and Vodafone.

Back in May 2019, the Korean giants established the Advanced Communications Research Center (ACRC) under Samsung Research to lead the development of forthcoming-generation communication technology. Dr. Charlie Zhang, Senior Vice President at SRA, stated that “the wireless industry has benefited significantly from fundamental research in the past few decades.”

By publishing the 6G white paper back in July 2020 and the 6G spectrum white paper in May 2022, meanwhile, this ACRC has placed itself as a market leader in driving the 6G landscape, and now the Korean brand is playing a significant role in the global standardization of 6G technology as it chairs both the 6G Framework Group of the International Telecommunication Union Radiocommunication Sector (ITU-R) as well as the Spectrum Group of the Global Mobile Supplier Association (GSA).

The Korean giants have already hosted the inaugural Samsung 6G Forum in May 2022. The collaboration between the industry leadership of Samsung and the academic prowess of Princeton sets the platform for the NextG Initiative to become a monumental force in shaping the future of 6G.
