Google Setting Up To Decrease WebView Crashes With Android 15
Google has already started taking steps for the next big enhancement for Android smartphones, obviously Android 15.
Since Android 15 is the next-generation OS update, it should bring the latest upgraded features, improvements, and changes, out of which one noticeable change will appear: fewer WebView crashes.
Apart from the dozens of features and functionality, stability is one of the most important things users care about while browsing the internet. Generally, it happens that the operating system returns some errors, which creates inconvenience in the flawless experience of the users.
As per the convenience of the users, Google is aiming to decrease WebView crashes with the Android 15 OS update by just increasing the stability and security of Android. The reports are also stating that the Mountain View giants are also gearing up for the next project Mainline module named WebViewBootstrap.
However, this module was announced with Android 10, which made it possible to divide the components of the OS into modules. By doing so, the multiple upgrades can be distributed through Google Play instead of using OTA updates. By this prospect, it appears that Google, with Android 15, is gearing up to move multiple parts of the WebView API code to the new WebViewBootstrap module.
Somewhere, it will be possible to directly update the code in particular situations, starting from when it is impossible to start WebView. Among other things, the module will also benefit from new “resiliency” features, which will permit it to automatically detect when WebView will not be able to start and thus implement the suitable corrections.
It is expected that the new module will debut with Android 15, however, it appears that most likely its adoption for OEMs will not be mandatory right away; in this sense, all this could happen directly along with Android 16.
