Galaxy Note 20, S20 Series & S20 FE Back on Track for Monthly Updates
Yesterday, Samsung published the latest security patch update details on its official page, where it also shared the updated list of devices, which provides information about which devices will be eligible to get the security patch and their frequency.
After exploring the list, we got to know that the company has shifted the 2020 flagship device to the quarterly update list, which includes the Galaxy S20 series, Galaxy S20 FE, and Galaxy Note 20 series. But surprisingly, Samsung has brought the Galaxy Note 20 lineup and the Galaxy S20 FE to the monthly update list, but unfortunately, the Galaxy S20 is already listed under the quarterly update list.
It looks like Samsung has mistakenly shifted the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy S20 FE devices to the quarterly list because, in comparison to the Galaxy S20, these devices were launched after six months, so logically, they should get at least six months more monthly software support. To make it right, the company has brought those devices back to the monthly update list.
In case you don’t know about the monthly, quarterly, and biannual lists, these are the updated lists of devices categorized according to their updated eligibility. For instance, if any device is listed under the monthly update list, it will be eligible to get at least one security patch update per month, while the quarterly update list’s devices are eligible to get only four updates per year, and following the biannual list, devices are eligible to get only two security updates per year.
