Galaxy S25 Edge vs. S25 Ultra: Where Does the “Edge” Have an Advantage?

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, the fourth member of the Galaxy S25 family, has just arrived, taking centre stage; the company showcased this newbie’s details via a livestream. But does the Galaxy S25 Edge beat the S25 Ultra in any way? Let’s find out via a nice comparison between the two most stunning flagship models.
Galaxy S25 Edge vs Galaxy S25 Ultra
Design and weight:
To begin with, the most talked-about Galaxy S25 Edge is its design. Samsung has already stated that it’s supposed to be the slimmest flagship ever. Well, framing down to a more slimmed-down model, the S25 Edge beats the S25 Ultra in thickness. The S25 Edge comes with a sleek 5.8mm body. It offers a robust feel despite bearing a thinner outer body.
On the other hand, the Galaxy S25 Edge is already flaunting its lightweight factor, it wins this aspect as Samsung brought it down at just 163 gms, while on the comparison side, the Galaxy S25 Ultra weighs slightly higher at 218 gms.
Camera:
When it comes to the Galaxy S25 Edge, Samsung has, however, downgraded the camera as compared to the S25 Ultra due to the thinness factor of the S25 Edge. Well, fans do get a 200mp primary camera, topping it off with a 10x digital zoom where users can go for closer shots.
Also, the Galaxy S25 Edge features a slightly upgraded Samsung Log video support than the S25 Ultra, allowing users to shoot with a wide dynamic range even with the phone’s selfie camera. This helps in maintaining clearer shots with large pixel size for capturing more improved images in low-light environments.
Battery and charging speed:
Coming to the battery capacity and charging aspect, the Galaxy S25 Edge powers a 3,900mAh battery pack with 25W fast charging support and 15W fast wireless charging with Qi2-ready cases. On the comparison side, the S25 Ultra leads the battery factor, as it comes with a 4,900mAh to 5,000mAh battery with a more powerful 45w fast charging support. Looks like this battery and charging speed difference is supposed to be taken collectively from the S25 and the S24 base models.
Display:
Featuring a nice 6.7-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2x display, the newly-launched Galaxy S25 Edge is protected with the latest Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 that is designed to provide both strength and stunning durability against accidental drops. It is a slightly better and upgraded version of the first ceramic protective film.
Well, compared with the Galaxy S25 Ultra, it boasts a 6.9-inch HDR10+ Dynamic LTPO AMOLED display which is slightly bigger than the S25 Edge.
At the same time, the S25 Ultra model sports a Corning Gorilla Glass Armor 2 protection, which is topped up with stunning anti-reflective properties that make the display screen visible even in a bright sunny environment. It appears that the display of the S25 Ultra is slightly better than the S25 Edge; however, Samsung has infused sturdiness and strength into the Galaxy S25 Edge as well.
Performance:
Talking about the performance specs, indeed the Galaxy S25 Edge runs as similar as the S25 Ultra due to fact that both of these devices runs the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy SoC and thus, it offers more or less the similar performance but due to the narrow frame, Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge significantly leads here as the phone comes with a better and bigger vapor chamber when it comes to cooling.
Pricing:
When it comes to the price point, the Galaxy S25 Edge’s starting price is $1,099 for the 256GB model, while the S25 Ultra is priced at $914.97. This suggests that the S25 Edge is slightly on the pricier side, compared to the S25 Ultra unit.
