Galaxy S25’s Exynos 2500 AP to retain deca-core design

In the first half of 2024, the Samsung Galaxy S24 series is anticipated to launch. The Exynos 2400 SoC is reportedly an option for the standard S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus, while the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is reportedly the sole SoC available for the Ultra variant worldwide. Samsung showcased their new Exynos 2400 chipset at LSI Tech Day. Now that we’ve heard some early whispers about the Exynos 2500 processor for 2025, it seems like we have more information about the chipset.

With one Cortex-X4 prime CPU core operating at 3.19 GHz, the Exynos 2400 is anticipated to have a deca-core design. Five Cortex-A720 performance CPU cores, two of which are clocked at 2.9 GHz and three of which are clocked at 2.6 GHz, will be present. The four Cortex-A520 efficiency cores with 1.95GHz clock speeds are the only ones left. The Exynos 5300 integrated modem can offer a downlink speed of up to 10 GBps, while the CPU is a Samsung XClipse 940.

A 1.7-times boost in CPU speed and a 14.7-times increase in AI performance are predicted compared to the Exynos 2200.

The rumored specifications of the Exynos 2500 AP are as follows:

The Exynos 2500’s specifications have reportedly undergone yet another revision, according to leaker @OreXDA. The Exynos 2400’s successor will also be a deca-core CPU, but its configuration will allegedly include three performance cores instead of the Exynos 2400’s two performance cores and three slower ones. One Cortex-X5 prime CPU core, three performance Cortex-A730 cores, two performance Cortex-A730 cores running at a lesser speed, and four efficient Cortex-A520 cores are among the Exynos 2500’s speculated specifications.

Four prime cores were originally rumored to be part of the Exynos 2500, but Samsung likely objected to the concept since it may cause the MediaTek Dimensity 9300, which lacks efficiency cores, to overheat. It is said that a Samsung 3nm 3GAP manufacturing node will be used to produce the Exynos 2500. The Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ in 2025 could use this SoC.
