Samsung has introduced a new mid-priced phone, the Galaxy M36, in India. While its core specs are close to the older M35 model, the look is different, especially the back cameras, which are now grouped together in a separate module.
The phone runs on Samsung’s Exynos 1380 chip. It has a big 6.7-inch AMOLED screen. This display is sharp (Full HD+), refreshes smoothly at 120 Hz, and uses tough Gorilla Glass Victus+ for protection.
You can choose between 6GB or 8GB of RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of storage space. The M36 comes with Android 15 and Samsung’s One UI 7.0 software right away. This includes features like Circle to Search and Galaxy AI tools (Object Eraser, Image Clipper, Edit Suggestion). Samsung also promises this phone will get six major Android updates.
Key Changes from the Galaxy M35:
- Bigger Screen: Moved from 6.6 inches to 6.7 inches.
- Screen Design Swap: The M35 had a small hole for the selfie camera; the M36 uses an older U-shaped notch (a step down).
- Smaller Battery: Battery size decreased from 6,000 mAh to 5,000 mAh (another step down).
- Lighter Weight: Because of the smaller battery, it’s lighter (198 g vs. the M35’s 220 g). Many people found the M35 too heavy, so this is an improvement.
For photos, the front camera is 13MP and sits in that U-notch. On the back, there’s a triple camera setup: a main 50MP lens, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 2MP macro lens.
Other important features include a 5,000mAh battery supporting 25W fast charging, 5G connectivity, and three color choices: Orange Haze, Velvet Black, and Serene Green.
The Samsung Galaxy M36 goes on sale in India starting July 12th. The starting price is INR 16,499, around $270 USD. We’re still waiting for Samsung to confirm pricing and availability in other regions.
