iPhone 17 Pro Max and Galaxy S26 Ultra to Take Separate Design Paths

Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is supposed to clash with its rival iPhone 17 Pro Max, but both are anticipated to bring opposite design paths.

Samsung is supposed to debut the next-generation flagship smartphones under the Galaxy S26 series, including the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra, in early 2026. A few reports also suggest that Samsung could replace the Plus variant of the series with the Galaxy S26 Edge; however, it’s not officially confirmed yet.

On the rivalry side, Apple is also gearing up to debut its next-generation iPhone 17 series, including the iPhone 17 Pro Max, sometime in September this year. Presently, the latest smartphones from both firms, i.e., the Galaxy S25 Ultra and the iPhone 16 Pro Max, are almost similar to each other in terms of their length, width, and thickness. However, it will not be the case with the next-generation devices, as a new report suggests.

A reliable tipster, Ice Universe, shared a post on X, claiming that the Galaxy S26 Ultra and iPhone 17 Pro Max will be the beginning of two completely different designs. According to the post, the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s thickness will be reduced to 7.x mm, whereas its rival will measure 8.76 mm in thickness. Apart from the thickness, the weight difference between the two will be even greater.

However, currently, there’s no official word regarding this report from both firms yet, so it remains to be seen whether the leaked measurements will come true.
