Galaxy Z Flip 7 Success Might Determine Processor for Galaxy S26

Samsung used its in-house Exynos 2500 chipset to power the newly launched Galaxy Z Flip 7, which helps it to keep the price constant with the previous model. Now, it is considering going with the Exynos chipset for its next-generation Galaxy S26 series if the Galaxy Z Flip 7’s result comes out in favor.
Recently, Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Flip 7 alongside its siblings, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, at the Unpacked event. This time, the company took a big step by using its in-house Exynos chipset over Snapdragon for its Z Flip phones for the very first time. Fortunately, the steps seem favorable in terms of price, as the in-house chip prevented a price hike, despite several upgrades such as a full-view cover screen and a bigger battery. However, the result in terms of performance remains to be seen.
Meanwhile, a new report from DealSite revealed that Samsung is now working on its next Exynos 2600 chipset based on a 2nm process and considering using it to power the Galaxy S26 series if the Galaxy Z Flip 7 performs significantly better than its predecessor.
In case the Galaxy Z Flip 7, based on the Exynos 2500 chipset, surpasses the older Galaxy Z Flip 6 in terms of performance, the company will aim to equip the Galaxy S26 series with its in-house Exynos chip rather than the Snapdragon exclusivity like the current Galaxy S25 series.
If this happens, then it will be quite significant for the company to consider other hardware upgrades while keeping the price unchanged. Whereas Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chips are getting expensive with each generation, TSMC’s manufacturing costs are also increasing.
Regarding this, President TM Roh explained at the press conference, “We jointly verified the Exynos performance not only with the MX business unit’s development department but also with cooperative partners.” He added, “It was confirmed that sufficient performance and quality were secured, so we decided to equip it in the Flip 7.” It will be interesting to see whether the Galaxy Z Flip 7’s performance comes out on expectations, which will help the company to decide the chipset for the Galaxy S26 series.
