Recently revealed that the upcoming Galaxy S26 series will include three models, which are as follows:
- Galaxy S26 Pro, Galaxy S26 Edge, and Galaxy S26 Ultra.
For long, the chipsets of these devices have been a part of controversy; now a newly spotted firmware file for the Galaxy S26 Ultra confirms its chipset.
Galaxy S26 Ultra Firmware Suggests Use of Snapdragon 8 Elite Chip
A report from SamMobile revealed that it spotted the firmware file for the Galaxy S26 Ultra, which confirms that the device will run Android 16-based One UI 8.5 software. Apart from the software version, the firmware also revealed the key detail regarding the hardware (chipset) of the device.
According to the report, the firmware file of the device mentions PMK8850, which points out the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2. The Galaxy S25 Ultra’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chip has the model number 8750. Whereas the newly spotted number is 8850, which seems to be a successor version of the current 8 Elite chip to be called the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2.
If the consideration comes true, then Samsung will use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 to power the next-generation Galaxy S26 Ultra. However, the company hasn’t confirmed the chipset for the Galaxy S26 series models yet, so it remains to be seen whether the sibling models of the Galaxy S26 Ultra will also be powered by the same chipset.
