Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 Impresses in Extreme Durability Test

Samsung claimed that the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is as durable as the Galaxy Z Fold 7, with at least 500,000 folds under specific conditions. Now, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 has proven itself as the most legendary durable flip phone ever in the Galaxy phone line, as it just survived one of the internet’s harshest durability tests. Let’s take a closer look.

A well-known YouTuber, JerryRigEverything, took the Galaxy Z Flip 7 for the toughest durability test, for which he set a few challenges, such as a scratch test, flame exposure, dirt infiltration, and multiple bend attempts.

Interestingly, despite a few weak points, the device stayed functional from start to finish. The cover screen is built with Gorilla Glass Victus 2, which started scratching at level 6 on the Mohs hardness scale.

The inner display is made of soft polymer, which is not strong enough, as it picked up permanent marks at level 2. The YouTuber says even a fingernail can scratch it; however, the company includes one free screen protector replacement in the first year.

Coming to the flame test, the outer screen lasted around 20 seconds under direct heat without serious damage, whereas the inner screen lasted a bit less before shutting off and developing burn spots, potentially from heat building at the edge. During the test, dust and dirt were poured on the hinge and display, and the hinge started creating some creaking sounds, although it kept working.

At last, the device was bent backward with real force, and a small kink formed near the antenna, although it didn’t break. Fortunately, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 passed all of these challenging tests and stands out as a durable enough Flip phone.
