Samsung Galaxy S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra Get August 2025 Security Patch

Samsung started initiating its August 2025 security update with the Galaxy A56, and there has been no looking back since then. So far, a lot of Galaxy devices have received the update across the world; meanwhile, the Galaxy S21 series is getting the update for the first time.
Beginning with the hometown, South Korea, Samsung is rolling out the August 2025 security update for the Galaxy S21 family and is expected to gradually reach other eligible countries in the coming future.
Specifically, the latest firmware for the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra integrates the August 2025 security update and is identified with the version numbers G991NKSSAHYH5, G996NKSSAHYH5, and G998NKSSAHYH5, respectively. At the same time, the update is just a minor security patch that follows the similar pattern of every month’s Android security bulletin.

Therefore, this time, with the August patch also, Samsung has focused on improving the system security and core functionality. The update packs a host of bug fixes for all the security-related issues that were addressed in the previous version to provide a more secure user experience, while also protecting the device against potential threats.
In addition, the update further adds stability to the entire system behavior and even brings certain performance optimizations that eventually help users to have a smooth, stable, and more efficient experience.
Well, it’s unfortunate that the Galaxy S21 series owners will not be able to have the One UI 8 treat, as the device now becomes ineligible to get any major OS update further. But at the same time, the fourth sibling, the Galaxy S21 FE model, will receive the One UI 8 update once Samsung releases the official version for the Galaxy S25 series, which is scheduled for release in September.
