Samsung’s newly certified Galaxy S26 Series may leave charging speed enthusiasts underwhelmed. Several leaks promising a major jump in power delivery, the latest Chinese regulator certification list shows these phones will not charge much faster than last year’s models.
This year, Samsung is revamping its naming strategy: the base model is now called “Pro,” dropping the “Plus” entirely, and introducing a new “Edge” model to bridge the gap.

- Galaxy S26 Pro: 25W (SM-S9470)
- Galaxy S26 Edge: 25W (SM-S9480)
- Galaxy S26 Ultra: 45W (SM-S9420)
If these numbers sound familiar, it’s because Samsung adopted 25W as its mid-range standard a few years ago and has resisted the high-wattage race that OnePlus, Xiaomi, and others have embraced.
Ultra Model: A Letdown for Power Users
Earlier leaks fueled excitement that the S26 Ultra would finally boost charging speeds to 60W or even 65W—a figure that could close the gap with rivals and cut charging times nearly in half. But the certification shows the Ultra at 45W, no different from the last several flagship releases. For many, that’s a missed opportunity, especially when competing Android phones routinely hit 80W, 100W, or higher, recharging in 30 minutes or less.
It’s important to note: these certification details apply strictly to the Chinese market. Historically, Samsung has sometimes offered slightly different charging rates for international versions, but most recent Galaxy releases have kept specs uniform worldwide. If Samsung is planning a surprise for global buyers, there’s been no evidence yet.
