Samsung Grabs 3rd Place in Global Foldable Market, 9% Share

Samsung is actively working on expanding its foldable family this year, while the Q2 2025 global foldable phone market share result wasn’t in favor of the company.

In early Q3 2025, Samsung launched its seventh-generation foldable phones, including Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. Now, it is gearing up to launch the Galaxy Tri-Fold by the end of this year.

Recently, it’s also been reported that for next year, Samsung is strategizing to introduce a “Wide Fold,” alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8. Meanwhile, Counterpoint Research’s Q2 2025 global foldable phone market share metrics reveal that Chinese foldable brands have secured over 70% of the market share.

According to the shared data, Samsung secured the third position on the shipment chart with 9% market share. While Huawei and Motorola are in first and second positions with 45% and 28% market shares, respectively. Noticeably, Samsung had a 21% market share during the same period in 2024, ranking second on the chart. Huawei and Motorola had 32% and 14% market shares.

However, it seems that the third quarter’s global foldable phone market share shipment chart could be in favor of Samsung, as its Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 have already sold out massively. It remains to be seen whether the latest Galaxy foldable phones will strengthen the firm’s position against its rivals.
