Samsung Find might soon follow Google Find Hub’s Satellite-based Location Sharing

Samsung appears to be following in the footsteps of Google in terms of supporting satellite-based location sharing via the Samsung Find app.

Basically, Google’s newer Pixel phones already support satellite-based location sharing through its Find Hub app. Now, a report (via Android Authority) suggests that the Samsung Find app will follow the same, allowing users to share the position of their Galaxy devices even when the mobile network is unavailable.

An all-new version, v1.8.00.16, of the Samsung Find app has been spotted by a tipster, ThatJoshGuy, where a new Satellite mode UI was found, and the page reads out that the user’s location will be shared once every 15 minutes due to being in Satellite mode. Also, when the satellite mode is turned off, location sharing will automatically stop.

Other than that, string codes found in the Samsung Find app version further provide a clue of another option named fallback, which is required when location sharing fails.

Thankfully, users will be able to share their location manually via message but only once. At the same time, Samsung Find already offers the ability to share the location of Galaxy devices and SmartTags and locate devices, and now, the location-sharing will be extended to work over satellite, making it useful in remote areas where mobile networks are not available.

Well, it is believed that the latest feature might perfectly copy Google Find Hub’s satellite-based location sharing, and in any case, if the report comes true, then Samsung Galaxy devices will be able to share their location both manually and over satellite as well.
