Google may soon bring more AI features to Gemini overlay on Galaxy phones

Gemini, Google’s digital AI assistant, is starting to evolve in the entire Android ecosystem, including Samsung Galaxy phones. Now, it looks like Google is working on introducing a major upgrade for Gemini, adding more functions in the overlay.

Since Samsung is already on the path to expand Google Gemini on its Galaxy ecosystem, from its smartphones to Galaxy Watches, meanwhile, it appears like the Gemini overlay is supposed to receive a few essential tools, which will certainly make their way to Galaxy devices perhaps in the coming future.

Basically, according to the report presented by Android Authority, they dived deep into the latest version of the Google app (v16.40.18), revealing that Gemini might soon receive a new Tools button (which is placed next to the Plus icon at the bottom), where users will be able to use certain AI-powered features such as creating images, Deep Research, Canvas, Guided Learning, and creating videos with Veo, without opening the Gemini app.

Also, tapping on a new Tools option and selecting any of the desired functions lets users begin with their usual text or voice commands.

Other than that, Google may further add the Circle to Search option in the Gemini overlay, where users will be able to draw a circle on their phone’s screen in order to attach the particular moment of the screen in the form of an attachment. Also, Google is looking towards changing the generated image within the Gemini app by adding the Copy and Download options to the three-dot menu and the Share option at the top right.

Well, Google has already offered two different ways to opt in for Gemini; first up is the quicker and more convenient overlay (pressing and holding the side button), and the next option is the full-fledged app. Significantly, the report suggests that Google seems to be adding more convenience to the Gemini’s overlay.

At the same time, in any case, if the reports are found to be true, then the addition of more features in the Gemini overlay will indeed make it easier to access the desired feature just with a single tap without opening the Gemini app.
