Galaxy XR’s bootloader unlocking could challenge other competitors in the market

Samsung recently launched its first Galaxy XR, which has a notable feature that allows users to unlock the bootloader, while its competitor headsets lack.

The Korean tech giant just introduced its very first extended reality (XR) device at the virtual launch event. The device is integrated with several sensors, cameras, and advanced features that enhance users’ experience. Apart from all this, Samsung also offered a notable feature to the headset, which it has removed from Galaxy smartphones and tablets running One UI 8.

According to the technology community test, the “Unlock Bootloader” option is clearly appearing and seamlessly working on the Galaxy XR headset. It allows users to unlock and intervene deeply in the system.

One of the notable facts is that Samsung has removed the Unlock Bootloader from recent Galaxy flagship models, such as the Galaxy S25 Ultra or Galaxy Z Fold 7 no longer support the feature.

On the rivalry side, other competitors available in the market, such as Apple’s Vision Pro nd Meta Quest 3, are not compatible with bootloader unlocking. However, a few older firmware versions of Meta Quest 2 have been exploited to jailbreak, but no commercial XR device has officially allowed bootloader unlocking since the Oculus Go. It seems a wow factor and an efficient fact for Samsung’s Galaxy XR to stand strong against its rival devices.
