One UI 8.5 brings a major upgrade for the Lock screen wallpaper

Samsung’s next-generation software, the One UI 8.5, is currently running in its beta channel, as the One UI 8.5 beta is available for the Galaxy S25 series in four out of six countries. While indeed, the latest OS is shaping up in perhaps a huge upgrade, it seems like Samsung has something major for the Galaxy phone’s lock screen, courtesy of One UI 8.5!
Well, the One UI 8.5 is currently only exclusive for the Galaxy S25 series owners in South Korea, Germany, the US, and the UK, while India and Poland will join later.
The users have already started testing the latest beta channel, and now, a fresh report reveals that on One UI 8.5, the phone’s lock screen wallpaper adapts the empty space by automatically filling the area.
Basically, a user via X reportedly shared a short clip showing one of the major lock screen upgrades so far. It looks like Samsung has been working on changing the Galaxy phone’s lock screen mechanism, where if the user over-scrolls or pulls down the wallpaper, the image inside automatically adapts accordingly and fills the empty space with a perfect color shade that matches the wallpaper, which can be easily noticed in the clip.

At the same time, the lock screen clock and the background adapt themselves seamlessly, providing a much cleaner UI than ever before. Well, this upgrade comes after the introduction of the Adaptive Lock Screen Clock with One UI 8.0 update, and now, it appears like Samsung is preparing to bring another interactive lock screen upgrade with the upcoming One UI 8.5 version.
It’s worth noting that the latest One UI 8.5 version is currently available in the beta stage, while Samsung is expected to implement this functionality when the official version arrives, and it remains to be seen what happens in the future.
