Samsung’s Camera Assistant Update Quietly Reveals What’s Coming With the Galaxy S26

Samsung rarely announces things outright. It hints, it updates, it quietly signals. The latest Camera Assistant update to version 4.5.00.19, dropped just hours after Galaxy Unpacked, is exactly that kind of signal.
The update is small in file size, around 4.7 MB, but the feature list attached to it is anything but.
Camera Assistant, part of Samsung’s Good Lock suite, already gave power users a decent set of tools: zoom link customization, auto lens switching, distortion correction, and HDR controls. Version 4.5.00.19 pushes that considerably further.
The highlights include focus peaking in Pro modes, which is genuinely useful for anyone shooting with manual focus. There’s also AE/AF lock for Video Pro mode, autofocus speed and sensitivity controls, optical image stabilization management, and the ability to save custom presets for Pro settings. On the video side, 8K recording with mirroring support and a video softening option round things out. A 24 MP photo resolution option also appears, along with TILTA wireless controller support for those who shoot with rigs.
That’s a meaningful set of additions for serious camera users.
Here’s the thing: none of this seems to actually work on Galaxy S25 devices running One UI 8.5, even in beta. The update formally lists One UI 8.5 as a requirement, but the features appear to be held back for now.
The most logical read is that Samsung is reserving these capabilities for the Galaxy S26 at launch, using Camera Assistant as a staging ground rather than a live rollout.
How to Check for the Update
If you want to see whether it’s available on your device, open Good Lock and check the top of the screen for pending module updates, or head into the Galaxy Store under Menu, then Updates. Long-pressing the Store icon and selecting Update Applications also works.
Expect more clarity once the S26 officially arrives.
