John Wick Video Game – What We Know So Far About Saber’s AAA Prequel

Saber Interactive and Lionsgate now have a public plan for a full AAA John Wick video game. The project is still untitled, but the February 12, 2026 State of Play reveal locked in the big pieces: a single-player third-person action game for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC, with Keanu Reeves voicing John Wick and franchise director Chad Stahelski involved in production. The announcement included an English-language trailer.

Lionsgate had already flagged AAA games for John Wick and Saw on an earnings call before that showcase. The State of Play trailer is what turned those comments into a real project with platforms, a studio, and a place in the timeline. There is still no release date.

John Wick Video Game – What We Know

The game is a mature single-player third-person action title. Saber Interactive, the studio behind Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, is developing it with Lionsgate. Reeves is attached for Wick’s voice and likeness. Stahelski is attached on the production side.

The story is original and sits in the John Wick timeline years before the Impossible Task, the job that made Wick a legend before the first film. Familiar High Table figures are expected alongside new characters created for the game. Combat is built around the films’ gun-fu — shooting mixed with close-range fighting — plus film-style camera work. Driving and distinct locations have been teased as part of the design.

The public file opened in late 2025, when Lionsgate chairman Adam Fogelson said AAA opportunities around John Wick and Saw were moving and “on schedule.” The first real look arrived at Sony’s State of Play on February 12, 2026. Saber CEO Matthew Karch called Wick one of the most iconic action characters in film and said the studio is working with Stahelski, Reeves, and Lionsgate. Lionsgate’s Jenefer Brown said the goal is the films’ fight choreography, world-building, and tone.

That is as far as the official rollout goes. No title. No year. No full gameplay demo beyond the reveal trailer. No confirmed mission list, runtime, or multiplayer plan.

This is not the first John Wick game, but it is the first one at this scale with Reeves in the role. John Wick Chronicles arrived in VR in 2017. John Wick Hex, a 2019 turn-based tactics game, left digital stores in July 2025 after its license ended. The Saber project replaces that smaller tie-in track with a mainline action game set before the movies.

What This Means for Fans

A licensed John Wick game with Reeves and Stahelski attached is the version of this idea people have asked for since the first film. Putting the story before the Impossible Task also keeps it from stepping on John Wick: Chapter 4 or the planned fifth movie. New players can learn the Continental and the High Table without needing every sequel first.

The risk is the wait. The game has been public since February 2026 and still has no window. Saber’s name helps — Space Marine 2 showed the studio can sell weighty third-person combat — but gun-fu is a different test than a chainsword. Until a longer gameplay slice exists, the pitch is stronger than the evidence.

What’s Next

No theatrical-style country list exists here because this is a game, not a film. The next meaningful update is a title, a year, or a proper gameplay demo. Until one of those lands, the confirmed map stays the same: PS5, Xbox Series, PC, Reeves as Wick, Stahelski involved, story set years before the Impossible Task.
