Nue’s Exorcist Anime Confirmed for Summer 2027 With First Trailer
Nue’s Exorcist is officially heading to television. Kota Kawae’s dark fantasy manga, which topped the AnimeJapan 2025 fan poll for series readers most wanted animated, got its TV anime confirmation during the Jump Press showcase on October 12, 2026, alongside a first teaser trailer, key visual, and the show’s lead cast.
The series will broadcast in summer 2027 on ANN (TV Asahi), with no international streaming platform confirmed yet.
What the Trailer Reveals
The teaser gives fans their first animated look at protagonist Gakuro Yajima and Nue, the spirit whose fate becomes tied to his own, alongside brief glimpses of the supernatural threats haunting their school. A newly released key visual places the two leads together in battle, setting the tone for the series’ mix of supernatural combat and school-based drama.
MONACA, the composer group behind the score, also provided the trailer’s featured theme music, giving an early sense of the anime’s atmosphere ahead of next year’s premiere.

The Story So Far
Nue’s Exorcist follows Gakuro Yajima, an ordinary high schooler who can see spirits. After wandering into a sealed room at his school, he encounters Nue, a quirky spirit trapped there who enlists his help defeating the evil forces roaming the building. That encounter pulls Gakuro into the world of exorcists, where he and his classmate Kazusa Suo, who shares similar supernatural abilities, work together as part of the Sixth Elimination Squad to protect their school from spiritual threats.
The manga has been serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump since May 2023 and had reached 16 collected volumes as of September 2026. It’s available digitally in English through MANGA Plus and Viz Media, with Viz also handling physical print copies.
