After the October 2022 update for the S21 series in the United States, Samsung has now also started releasing it for the European users as well, at least for the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+ and Galaxy S21 Ultra models.
The new firmware, about 225MB in size and named with the code G99*BXXS5CVIF, contains the October 2022 security patches and fixes a number of vulnerabilities in the privacy and security. Once again the manufacturer beat everyone on time — including Google — by releasing the security patches of the new month even before the end of the previous one Of course, as it is still October, the details of the new SMR (Security Maintenance Release) have not yet been disclosed on the manufacturer’s official website, but still the roll out is already underway.
The device receives security patches from October 2022, with the changelog only talking about improved overall operation. Among the new features, however, is the new “After the update, you cannot revert to the previous version due to a security policy update.”
As anticipated, the new update is in distribution on the Galaxy S21 series, but not for the Galaxy S21 FE, which follows its own update schedule and will therefore receive it by the end of the month.
