As the time to change the calendar draws near, Samsung is also increasing the speed of its update availability. Nowadays, the Korean giant is releasing further updates for several smartphones region-wise. Earlier today, the company distributed further updates in the US, and now the latest security update is live in Canada.

Samsung released December 2022 security update for Galaxy S22, S20, Note 20, and A53 5G in Canada

Samsung Galaxy S22: Samsung now has two kinds of flagship segment smartphones, such as foldable and flat screen. In the flat screen segment, Galaxy S22 is the only device which is popular in the S series lineup. It might be the strong reason that most of the latest update first land on the Galaxy device. Users who own Galaxy S22 devices can identify the December 2022 security update by its build number S901WVLU2BVKI, S906WVLU2BVKI and S908WVLU2BVKI for Galaxy S22 general, Galaxy S22+ and Galaxy S22 Ultra respectively.

Samsung Galaxy S20: Samsung S20 series devices were launched back in 2020 and come with Android 10 on board. According to the information, the device is no longer eligible for an Android OS update after updating to Android 13. However, the device is still eligible for some more security updates, while it has to receive the new security update in the form of a December 2022 security patch update. The latest update comes with a new firmware version number G980WVLS3GVK4, G985WVLS3GVK4 and G988WVLS3GVK4 for Galaxy S20 general, Galaxy S20+ and Galaxy S20 Ultra, respectively.

Samsung Galaxy A53 5G: After releasing the December 2022 security update in the US, Samsung is now rolling out the same update to the Canada region for the Galaxy A53 5G device. According to the information Galaxy, A53 5G device is listed under the monthly security updates category, meaning the device is eligible for regular security updates for each month. The update carries a new firmware version number, A536WVLS3BVL1.

Samsung Galaxy Note 20: The Galaxy Note 20 series is the last lineup of the Note segment. It was launched in 2020 and came with Android 10 pre-installed. Being a two-year-old device, it has recently received an Android OS update, and just after that, the device is now receiving a new update in the form of the December 2022 security patch. Users of these devices can identify the latest update by their build numbers N981WVLS3GVKA and N986WVLS3GVKA. According to the information, the device will also get some more security updates in the coming days.

December 2022 Security Patch Fixed These Vulnerabilities:

According to the Samsung documentation, the latest patches include the fix to as many as 93 vulnerabilities, 67 of them common to (almost) all Android devices. Of the long list, 5 vulnerabilities are defined as critical, 63 high priority, and 12 moderate. Most of these vulnerabilities affect Galaxy smartphones and tablets with Android 10, Android 11, and Android 12, but some also touch the latest version of the robot. Among the latter, one concerns the RCS system, which would allow malicious actors to access the phone number of an incoming call. It also required action on the vulnerability that would allow access to the contents of the toast notifications of the Personal Area through the Nice Catch app (it is part of the Good Lock package).

We are now at the end of April, but Samsung is still expanding the monthly update for the devices, even though it has rapidly distributed the update to almost all of them. This is due to server limitations, and now the company is rolling out the update for the Galaxy M33 5G and Galaxy A23 5G.

Notably, the Galaxy M33 5G and Galaxy A23 5G are getting an April 2024 security patch update with the firmware version numbers M336BXXS7DXD1 and A236BXXU5DXD6, respectively. With the latest update, these devices don’t get any significant changes but will enhance their security.

For your information, the April 2024 security patch update provides more than 40 fixes, whereas Google has added 27 fixes that address issues related to the Android OS. Meanwhile, Samsung has also added 17 more fixes that will improve the functioning of the Galaxy devices.

You can check for the latest update by going to the system software update via system settings. The April 2024 update will protect users against external threats that can harm important data and provide a seamless experience while using any feature.

If you haven’t received the update on your devices yet, then you should have to wait some more time. Sometimes it takes time to provide every unit of the device. However, once the update becomes available.

Galaxy A55 & A35

Samsung has recently introduced a new software update for multiple devices; however, initially it was spotted on the high-end devices belonging to the Galaxy S series and Galaxy Z series. Now,  with the latest development, the company has started rolling out the update to several Galaxy A series devices.

According to the information, Samsung has made a significant software update live for the Galaxy A55Galaxy A35Galaxy A54Galaxy A34, Galaxy A25Galaxy A15 5G, and A15 4G. It is worth noting that the update has been detected in the European region and is expected to be limited to that only.

According to the latest update, the device will now support the 4G TDD band. However, Samsung has not provided any details about how this feature will benefit Galaxy device users. Based on my observations, it appears that the update will enhance stability and speed on the 4G network.

Here’s the build Numbers:

  • Galaxy A55 5G – A556BXXU1AXC4
  • Galaxy A35 5G – A356BXXU1AXBB
  • Galaxy A34 5G – A346BXXU6BXD2
  • Galaxy A25 5G – A256BXXU1AXC8
  • Galaxy A15 5G – A156BXXU1AXC4
  • Galaxy A15 4G – A155FXXU1AXC4

The company has stated that devices purchased in Germany and used in other countries, such as Belgium, Denmark, Germany, France, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Switzerland, and the Czech Republic, will not function in the 4G TDD band.

If you are using any of the above-mentioned smartphones in Europe, then you should start getting new updates. To install them on your device, simply go to the software update menu via the system settings, wait for the update, and then hide the download button that appears.

Galaxy S24 Ultra Camera Fix Update Delayed: Users Might Have to Wait for Better Snapshots

Samsung’s flagship device, the Galaxy S24, boasts all-new high-end hardware and software functionalities, but it still has some flaws, particularly in the camera department.

To improve the camera functionality, it has already introduced some updates, such as the April 2024 security patch update, which introduced many fixes and improvements. Now the company is planning to introduce one camera enhancement update.

Previously, the camera enhancement was supposed to be available with the May 2024 security patch update, but now, according to a popular tipter, @universeice, it is delayed and could be available for users in June.

However, there is no reason for the delay. Samsung might prefer to concentrate on rolling out the One UI 6.1 update to all eligible devices in May.

As of now, there is no information available about what will come with the camera enhancement update. Along with this, it may also include some new features that will improve the overall performance and security of the devices.
