Samsung has done it again. On February 1, 2023, the South Korean tech giant officially debuted the latest in its flagship smartphone lineup: the Galaxy S23. During an hour-long event at the company’s annual Galaxy Unpacked celebration, Samsung pulled back the curtain to reveal all the details about this highly anticipated device. From a streamlined design and powerful specifications to innovative features and competitive pricing.
Design and Display
The Samsung Galaxy S23 Series is finally here, and it comes with some great new features! The design of the phone is sleek and modern, and the display is absolutely stunning. The colours are vibrant, and the resolution is incredible. The phone is also very lightweight and comfortable to hold.
The Galaxy S23 Ultra has a 6.8-inch Edge QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, which supports a 120Hz refresh rate, a 240Hz touch sampling rate, and a peak brightness of 1,750 nits.
If we talk about the Galaxy S23+ packs a slightly smaller 6.6-inch Full HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2x display. It supports a 120Hz refresh rate, a 240Hz touch sampling rate, and a peak brightness of 1,750 nits.
The Galaxy S23 base model sports a 6.1-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen with a Full HD+ screen resolution, which is the smallest as compared to the other models.
Camera
The Galaxy S23 Ultra comes with quad rear cameras, including a 200MP main camera with OIS, a 12MP ultra-wide camera with 120-degree FOV, and two 10MP telephoto lenses with up to 10x optical zoom. The front camera is rated at 12MP. There are various attractive camera features in tow, too, including an advanced night mode, advanced Super Clear Glass lens for flare-free shots, 100x zoom, access to the Expert Raw app for in-camera editing tools, and loads more.
The Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+ have three cameras at the back, including a 50MP main camera with OIS, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, and a 10MP telephoto lens, along with a 12MP front camera. While having camera features similar to the Ultra model, the S23+ supports Portrait mode photos with the new AI Stereo Depth Map for better details.
Performance
The Galaxy S23’s all three models powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor and comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB/256GB/512GB of internal storage for Galaxy S23 and the Plus model have 256GB or 512GG option. And the Galaxy S23 Ultra is paired with 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 128GB/ 256GB/ 512GB/ 1TB of storage.
Operating System
Samsung Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra run the newly launched skin One UI 5.1 based on Google’s Android 13 operating system. All the phones come with a promise of four years of Android OS updates, a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, and Knox Vault support for enhanced security.
Battery Life
The Galaxy S23 Ultra, much like its massive screen space, has a big 5,000mAh battery, which was also seen on the S22 Ultra. However, this time, it supports 45W fast charging and 15W wireless charging.
The Galaxy S23+ is backed by a smaller 4,700mAh battery, also with support for 45W fast charging and 10W wireless charging. And the base Galaxy S23 has a smaller 3,700mAh battery, which supports 20W fast charging.
Price and Availability
It is available in three models – the Galaxy S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra. Prices start at $799 for the Galaxy S23 and go up to $1,399 for the Galaxy S23 Ultra. The Galaxy S23+ is priced at $1,049.
The Galaxy S23 series is now available to pre-order and will be up for grabs starting February 2nd in the US. There’s no word on its availability in India, but you can expect to get details soon.
