Samsung March 2023 security patch: What they fix and which smartphones will receive them


With the start of a new month comes the release of the latest security patches for various devices, including Google’s Pixel phones and Samsung’s smartphones. While security patches may not always seem like the most exciting updates, they protect our devices and personal information from potential cyber-attacks. Even if we are careful with our online activities, we can still be vulnerable to various security threats daily. 

Samsung March 2023 Security Patch

Samsung announced the March 2023 security patches on its Galaxy devices; now we learn that with the update, 40 improvements are introduced for the Android operating system, released directly by Google, which has labelled 5 critical0 moderate & 4 Already included in previous updates, also 5 Not applicable to Samsung devices, level CVEs. Along with Google patches, Samsung Mobile provides 23 Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE) items.

In the March 2023 security update, Samsung has addressed some security loopholes and variabilities in several functions and apps such as System UI, Bluetooth, Galaxy Themes Service, Samsung Keyboard, Call application, etc. Samsung claims that all the mentioned apps and functions are now fixed and safe to use, and the company also promises that if there is any bug left apart from this, it will surely fix it in another update.

  • Galaxy Z Flip3
  • Galaxy Z Flip
  • Galaxy W23, W23 Flip
  • Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy Note 20 Ultra
  • Galaxy Note 10 Lite

The list is probably not exhaustive, as Samsung will update other smartphones and maybe some tablets (despite the updates being quarterly for different models) and smartwatches (Galaxy Watch4, Watch4 Classic, Watch5 and Watch5 Pro).
