Samsung Is Setting Up For ‘Galaxy Glasses’; New Patent

Samsung has bigger plans to expand its smart wearable family beyond expectations, as Galaxy Glasses are next in line.

Samsung, apart from the forthcoming sixth-generation foldable Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 Galaxy Ringdevices, which are supposed to debut at the Galaxy Unpacked Event 2024 in July, is also busy expanding the wearable area by debuting a brand new smart glasses.

Back in 2023, Samsung had already trademarked the name for its smart glasses, Galaxy Glasses, from which reports regarding this are blowing. And now the recent reports are unveiling that Samsung has now filed a patent with the World Intellectual Property Organization for its smart glasses.

It is being speculated by Patently Apple that the patent displays the potential design of smart glasses by Samsung along with its charging case. Although the design of the glasses does not appear to be too different from the usual spectacles, For more details, the patent reveals some technical details about it.

The patent is revealing that the lenses are housed in their default place, but the left rim of them has magnetic connection points that will permit the glasses to charge while placed on their cover. The batteries are placed at each temple tip. Curiously, the patent makes no mention of cameras or sensors—components generally expected in XR devices.

Probably the patent will focus simply on the physical design. Samsung might file separate subsequent patents covering the more complex technical aspects of an invention. For now, nothing more has been revealed; the patent only reveals some insights, and it’s too early to say if Samsung will launch this product.

However, Samsung has not unveiled anything regarding the smartphone officially yet, but it is expected that some news from Tipster and the brand will get revealed soon.
