Galaxy A12 gets July 2023 security patch on several US carriers

The Samsung Galaxy A12 is an affordable device from Samsung; it was launched back in 2020. It features Android 10, which was the latest OS at the time. The device was promised to receive two major updates, which have already been completed, but it will keep getting security updates until 2025. Now the device is receiving the July 2023 security update.
Notably, the July 2023 security update is currently live for the Galaxy A12 variants, which are carrier-locked. The update comes on several networks, including T-Mobile, MetroPCS, US Cellular, Sprint, and Verizon The Verizon-locked variant of the Galaxy A12 is getting the update with firmware version A125USQU6CWG3. On other carriers, it carries a different firmware version, A125USQU6CWG2.
The latest update doesn’t bring new things, but as a security patch, it includes several fixes that enhance the security of the device. Currently, the July patch includes over 90 fixes for security vulnerabilities. Samsung has also added 38 more patches that improve the overall security of the devices.
The Galaxy A12 belongs to the biannual security update category, which means the device will only get two security updates per year. It is also worth noticing that the device got the June patch update as well, but on the other carrier, it received the March 2023 security update as the last update.
Users who own Galaxy A12s affiliated with the above-mentioned carriers can install the latest update by going to the settings, clicking on the software update menu, hitting the Download and Install option, waiting until it finishes searching, and then, if it shows a new update available, hitting the Download button.
