Samsung One UI 6.0 refreshed the photo editing features

Samsung One UI 6 is the latest skin for the Galaxy devices. The company is serving beta versions for the Galaxy S23 devices; however, with the first beta, the Korean giant has unveiled several features for the device. The update is full of improvements in the UI as well, which brings refreshment to the existing functions. Here we will explore the photo editor.

Samsung brings improvements to features for editing photos

With the One UI 6 beta updates, Samsung has refreshed and added some useful new features to the stock photo editor. Let’s explore them all:

Quick edit: While viewing a picture or video, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to go to detail view. This screen now provides quick access to effects and editing features you can immediately apply.

Copy and paste edit: Sometimes you have to edit photos of similar backgrounds, and then you usually do the same edits, so to make it easy, Samsung has brought a copy-paste feature. Now you can copy the editor from any photo and then paste it into multiple photos. It is worth noticing that you can only copy-edit photos that were created on your device.

Tools are well organized: Samsung has now rearranged the edition tools, and now they are no longer hidden under the extra menu. For instance, tools like the object eraser, spot color, and style are hidden in the three-dot menu. But with One UI 6, they are now available in the strip menu.

Undo and redo: Don’t worry about making mistakes. You can now easily undo or redo transformations, filters, and tones. This will give you more convenience while editing the photos.

Samsung Skips Galaxy AI Features in One UI 6.1 Update for Some Devices

Owners of the Samsung Galaxy S21, Galaxy Z Fold 3, and Galaxy Z Flip 3 have received the new One UI 6.1 update, but unfortunately, it lacks the anticipated Galaxy AI features.

Samsung introduced the One UI 6.1 update on the Galaxy S24 series, which brought the novelty of generative AI features under the title ‘Galaxy AI.’ The brand has rolled out the One UI 6.1 update to 2023’s high-end Galaxy devices, including the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, and Galaxy Tab S9 series, and attached all the AI-powered features that are available on the Galaxy S24 series.

Now, after a long tease, finally, Samsung released the One UI 6.1 update, including:

  • Galaxy S22, Galaxy S21, Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Z Flip 4, Galaxy Z Fold 3, and Galaxy Z Flip 3

Out of these devices, only the Galaxy S22, Galaxy Z Fold 4, and Galaxy Z Flip 4 are the only ones that get the new software customization along with the same set of Galaxy AI features that are already available on newer devices. Unfortunately, Galaxy S21, Galaxy Z Fold 3, and Galaxy Z Flip 3 devices only get the Circle to Search by Google feature and don’t get the most of those generative AI features like their batchmates.

The reason behind not offering the Galaxy AI features to these devices could either be due to a lack of enough processing power and memory, or maybe the giant doesn’t want to offer Galaxy AI to older devices. If the users are thinking that the company might make these features available on older devices later, then this can’t happen since if it comes true, then how would people switch to a new phone? And the brand would not want this.

Galaxy S22 One UI 6.1 Update on Hold Due to Potential Boot Issues

Finally, Samsung started distributing the waiting One UI 6.1 update to more Galaxy flagship devices that debuted in 2021 and 2022. Now a total of 19 Galaxy devices have gotten their Android 14-based One UI 6.1 update.

Samsung has added new devices to the list of One UI 6.1, which are as follows:

  • Galaxy S22 series, Galaxy S21 series, Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Z Flip 4, Galaxy Z Fold 3, and Galaxy Flip 3.

The Galaxy S22 series, including the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra, is on the list of devices getting One UI 6.1, but it appears that Samsung may have delayed the rollout due to errors a few users have faced after updating their smartphones.

It is reported that the rollout was paused because some Galaxy S22 units may fail to boot or unlock after the update has been installed. However, users on the Samsung Community forums in Korea, the only market where One UI 6.1 has been released for now, don’t appear to have run into issues themselves.

However, Samsung has yet to officially confirm that it has paused the rollout and even acknowledged any issues, so at the moment, it’s not exactly confirmed that the update has been taken off the air. The Galaxy S22 series owners who didn’t get the One UI 6.1 update yet might want to wait for more details to come out before proceeding with the installation.

If the users are afraid of the issue and want to avoid the risk, they might consider waiting until the Korean giant fixes these problems before installing the update.

These Samsung Galaxy Devices Have Received One UI 6.1 and Galaxy AI Update

The wait is over here! Samsung is rolling out the Android 14-based One UI 6.1 update to more high-end Galaxy smartphones and foldable phones.

Initially, the Korean giant introduced the One UI 6.1 on the Galaxy S24 series out of the box and later expanded it to a few flagship devices, including the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy S23 FE, the fifth generation of the Galaxy foldable, and the Galaxy Tab S9 series. After that, the brand promised to provide an update soon for the 2022 flagship Galaxy devices.

The Android 14-based One UI 6.1 update is quite awaited since it brought a mesmerizing novelty called ‘Galaxy AI’, a power package of generative AI features, including chat assistants, generative wallpapers, note assistants, photo editing, live translation calls, and more.

Samsung debuted Galaxy AI features exclusive to the Galaxy S24, but then, as per the convenience and expectations of flagship device owners, the brand expanded the availability of generative AI features, except for a few features such as instant slow-mo. Since this requires a high-end processor, all the devices are not eligible to handle these features flawlessly.

Now that the brand has added some more devices to the One UI 6.1 update list, here’s the list. Check whether your device is on the list or not

Galaxy S series

Galaxy Foldable & Tablet

Except for the Galaxy S21, the rest of the devices mentioned in the list get the Galaxy AI features, whereas the Galaxy S21 only gets the Circle to Search feature.
