Google has officially announced that it will stop its Google podcast services in 2024. The company is planning to add a dedicated podcast section to YouTube Music. If you are not familiar with Google Podcast, here is a short introduction: Google Podcast is an Android application that offers several podcasts all around the world.

On taking this decision, Google officially stated that “looking forward to 2024, we’ll be increasing our investment in the podcast experience on YouTube Music, making it a better overall destination for fans and podcasters alike”.

Throughout the above statement, it is clear that the company is fully focused on bringing a more interactive experience with YouTube Music, where users will get all the music and stories in a single place. In simple words, it will be just a migration between Google podcasts and YouTube music; it will not affect any of the things you do in podcasts. However, to do this carefully, the company is aggressively working on the process of migration.

Talking about tools, the company will also introduce a new tool that gives users the ability to add podcast RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feeds to their YouTube Music library, which includes shows not currently hosted by YouTube. Along with other tools, users will also get the option to download an OPML file of their show subscriptions, which they can upload to an app that supports their import.

For podcasters, this means providing robust creation and analytics tools, as well as RSS uploads, and after the migration, users will get all the podcast services that Youtube Music already has, like consuming your content in the background, in the car, offline, and more.

In the coming months, the company will take feedback from the users to make the tools more powerful, and during this process, after the company feels that these tools are ready, it will release them on YouTube Music along with proper guidelines on how you can use them perfectly.

According to Edison, the majority of users listen to podcasts on YouTube, while only 4 percent of weekly podcast listeners use Google Podcasts. Informatively, the podcast service on YouTube Music has been running for a long time, and after observing its success, the company is planning to merge all the podcast content with YouTube Music all over the world.
