Whenever it comes to instant messaging, WhatsApp is always the most preferable application. The main reason behind its popularity is its simplicity and security services. Now the developer team has added some more new features to the app, which will give users a new user experience. However, older device users will soon stop getting the services of WhatsApp devices.

WhatsApp will stop working for devices running below the Android Lollipop version

WhatsApp has confirmed that it will stop its services for devices that are running on Android versions lower than Android 5.0 Lollipop. It has been mentioned that it will not stop the support on October 24, 2023. So to maintain continuity, you have to switch your WhatsApp account to another device that is running on the eligible Android OS. For Samsung device users, we have made a list of devices that will no longer get WhatsApp support.

  • Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1
  • Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Apart from these, if you are using other Galaxy devices that are running one Android version lower than Android 5 but are eligible for the new update, update them to the latest version to continue using WhatsApp. It is important to note that WhatsApp only supports devices that have the capability of sending SMS, because in order to verify the account, it has to send the verification code through SMS or a phone call, which means it will not be available to use on WiFi-only devices.

If you don’t know which Android version your device is running, you can easily find it by going to the main settings under the About section. At the same time, you can check if the new update is available by going to the software update section.
