Carrier-locked Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5 getting the October 2023 update in the US

Most of the time, smartphone users in the USA are behind in terms of new update availability, but this time they are getting the new update in the initial phase. The carrier-locked variants of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5 have started getting October 2023 updates with firmware version numbers F946USQS1AWI3 and F731USQS1AWI3 respectively. Currently, the update is spotted on the Verizon network, but it could soon be expanded to other carriers.

The October 2023 update comes with nearly four dozen security vulnerability fixes. The update is mainly focused on enhancing the security of the device, which will increase its reliability. In detail, 34 different patches are included by Google, and an additional 12 patches are included by Samsung to secure its Galaxy devices.

Apart from the security enhancements, the update may also include some more improvements, which will boost the performance and make the devices more stable when performing different tasks. So if you are having any issues related to software, like legging, crashing, or any other problems, then you should update the device to the latest version.

If you are using a Verizon-affiliated Galaxy Z Fold 5 or Flip 5 smartphone, then you should get a notification of update availability. If it hasn’t arrived on your device yet, then you can wait for it because sometimes it takes time to reach every device. Alternatively, you can also manually check the update availability by going to the software update menu from the device’s main settings.
