Samsung has released the April 2024 security patch bulletin, where it has published details about the security patch, like what it has fixed for restricting security, which is great for user information. Along with this, it also provides information about which is listed under the different categories according to the frequency of the security patch update.

Now, with the latest April 2024 publication, Samsung has downgraded the frequency of some Galaxy devices. More specifically, the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, Galaxy 20 Ultra, and Galaxy S20 FE. Along with this are the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. It is worth noticing that 4G variants of the devices also degrade the frequency. Now these devices are shifted to the quarterly update list from the monthly update list.

For your information, Samsung categorizes all the devices into three different lists on the basis of update availability. The monthly security list includes devices that are eligible to get an update every month, while the quarterly listed devices are eligible to get only four updates per year, and along with this, Biannual are only eligible to get two security patch updates an year.

The Galaxy S20 series, Galaxy S20 FE, and Galaxy Note 20 were launched back in 2020 and came with Android 10 preinstalled. The company has released all of these devices with the promise of giving at least four years of software support, and by following it, the company has changed the frequency of the update policy regarding the security patch update. This is the last year of the device, and in the coming days, support for the devices will end.
