Snapdragon 8 Gen 3: Qualcomm’s New Flagship SoC Is a Powerhouse for AI

A real titan of on-device intelligence, premium-tier performance, and power efficiency, Qualcomm Technologies unveiled its newest premium mobile platform, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 at the Snapdragon Summit Event. The newest processor from Qualcomm Technologies, the pioneer in premium Android smartphone SoCs, will be used in flagship smartphones from flagship smartphone brands like ASUS, Honour, iQOO, MEIZU, NIO, Nubia, OnePlus, OPPO, Realme, Redmi, RedMagic, Sony, Vivo, Xiaomi, and ZTE worldwide.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Specifications : 

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 has an octa-core CPU design standard, with five performance cores clocked at up to 3.2GHz, two efficiency cores clocked at up to 2.3GHz, and a single Prime Cortex-X4 core operating at 3.3GHz. Supporting up to 24GB of 4800MHz LPDDR5x memory, it features a 12MB L3 cache. In an enhanced hexagon process reportedly 40 percent more efficient and 98 percent quicker than before, the Qualcomm AI engine is included in this chipset. With its generative AI capabilities, the chip promises to enable the quickest, most stable dispersion of picture production globally.

With a Qualcomm Kryo CPU that can produce up to 3.3 GHz at rates that are 20% more efficient and 30% quicker than previous generations, the processor is built on 4 nm processing technology. The Qualcomm AI Engine supports INT8+INT16, INT4, INT8, INT16, and FP16. It also comes with the Qualcomm Sensing Hub and the Dual Always-Sensing ISP.

Performance  : 

With hardware-accelerated ray tracing and global lighting, the processor also offers top-tier gaming performance. On compatible panels, the CPU claims 240 frames per second for gaming, with a 25% quicker and more efficient Qualcomm Adreno GPU. Adreno GPU with Real-Time Ray Tracing support for Unreal Engine 5 Lumen Global Illumination and Reflections System, Adreno Frame Motion Engine 2.0, Snapdragon Game Post Processing Accelerator, support for HDR, Snapdragon Shadow Denoiser, support for OpenGL ES 3.2, OpenCL 2.0 FP, Vulkan 1.3, H.265, VP9, AV1, HDR10+, HDR10, HLG, and Dolby Vision.

Connectivity support:

Supports Wi-Fi 7, Qualcomm FastConnect 7800 System, 802.11be, 802.11ax, 802.11ac, 802.11a/b/g/n, 6 GHz, 5 GHz e 2,4 GHz, 320/240/160/80/40/20 MHz, 8×8 MU-MIMO, 4K QAM, and OFDMA. Also security Wireless LAN WPA3-Business, WPA3-Open Enhanced, WPA3-Simple Connect, and WPA3-Individual.

Qualcomm XPAN, as well as Qualcomm aptX voice, aptX Lossless, aptX Adaptive, and LE Audio, are supported by Bluetooth audio with Snapdragon Sound Technology. Dual Bluetooth 5.4 up to 4K at 60 Hz or QHD+ at 144 Hz on the device or up to 8K at 30 Hz or 1080p at 240 Hz on external displays with VRR ranging from 240 Hz to 1 Hz The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 has the Snapdragon X75 5G Modem-RF system and 5G capability, enabling download and upload speeds of 10Gbps and 3.5Gbps. For increased coverage and speeds, the 5G modem has an embedded AI tensor hardware accelerator.

Camera and audio features:

Qualcomm’s Spectra image processor, hardware acceleration for depth sensors, and support for multiple HDR sensors, including multi-frame and triple video capture, are examples of its AI-powered image processing capabilities. Additionally, up to 36 MP triple cameras at 30 fps with no shutter lag or up to 108 MP single cameras at 30 fps with no shutter lag are supported by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. AI-based facial recognition, up to 200 megapixel photo capture, and AI for auto-exposure, auto-focus, and auto-white are also supported. There is an 8K HDR video capture option.

The Qualcomm Audio and Voice Communication Suite, Total Harmonic Distortion+Noise (THD+N), Qualcomm Aqstic smart speaker amplifier, Qualcomm Aqstic audio codec, and wide-ranging audio with tracking are all supported by the new CPU.

Security :

Alongside the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, Qualcomm also unveiled the Snapdragon X Elite, a PC platform designed to increase the potency and potential of AI apps while improving responsiveness and performance.
