Samsung is constantly rolling out the January 2024 security patch to eligible Galaxy devices. It has started the update session with its fourth-generation foldable smartphones, then expanded the update on a regular basis. Now, moving forward, it has started rolling out the update to five of the Galaxy devices, including the Galaxy Note 20, Note 20 Ultra, Galaxy Fold 5, Galaxy Flip 5, and Galaxy S21 FE.

The January 2024 security update is the latest security patch for the Galaxy device. It doesn’t bring any new features for the device, but it comes with some new fixes that will enhance the overall security of the devices. Sometimes the update also brings some internal improvements for the devices, which can enhance the overall performance and stability of the devices.

The Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra have already received the update in several countries, and now they are spotted receiving it in the European and Latin American regions with firmware version numbers N980FXXS9HXA1 and N985FXXS9HXA1, respectively.

The Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 are getting the update in Europe with firmware version numbers F946BXXS1BWL7 and F731BXXS1BWL7, respectively. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S21 FE also started getting a new update in Europe with the firmware version number G990BXXS6FWL5.

If you are also using these devices in the mentioned regions, then you are now able to update them to the latest software version. To do that, you just need to check the notification about the update availability, or you can also check the update manually by going to the software update menu through the system main settings.

  1. Will the January 2024 update also resolve issues regarding utility functions?

Generally, the security patch does not include a particular resolution for issues except security, but sometimes it will bring some fixes.

  2. Is it necessary to update the Galaxy devices to the January 2024 security patch?

It’s not always necessary, but if you want protection against external threats, then you should always keep it updated to the latest patch.

  3. When will the update be available on my device?

The update has already been rolled out from the company’s server for the above-mentioned regions; however, it may take some time to reach every unit of the devices.

Earlier this month, Samsung officially announced that it will provide one UI 6.1 update to the 2022 flagship device in May. But now the company has surprisingly started rolling out the update to one of the midrange Galaxy A23 devices.

The Verizon network has spotted the One UI 6.1 update for the Galaxy A23, with the firmware version number A236VSQU3CXD3. It has also brought the latest security update in the form of an April 2024 security patch. With the latest update, there are several new features introduced that will add some new features and enhancements.

In detail, the latest update for the Galaxy A23 5G introduces a new battery protection feature that allows users to manage the application’s battery charging to prevent battery damage. There are some new changes in the clock customization, gallery, and Samsung account sections. It is important to note that there is no AI feature arriving in this update.

The update will also enable call continuity, mid-conversation device switching, and seamless communication across any device, such as a Galaxy table, computer, or watch, all connected to the same Samsung account. A small but important addition is a new toggle in the mobile network that allows users to turn off 5G if they don’t need to connect to the update.

If you are using the locked version of the Galaxy A23 on the Verizon network, then you can now update it to the latest version simply by going to the system settings and tapping on the software update. If it shows a new update available, then tap on the download button.
