Samsung’s The Frame Revolutionizes Art Display with Pantone Color Fidelity
On Tuesday, the worldwide color business Pantone revealed that Samsung Electronics‘s 2024 model “The Frame” TV was the first display to obtain “Artful Color Certification.” When awarding certification, Pantone assesses the display’s accuracy in implementing the 24-color standard pattern mode in an International Commission on Illumination (CIE)-specified standard light environment. Pantone certifies “The Frame” with a focus on “Art Mode,” which automatically adjusts content color tones and brightness based on ambient lighting conditions.
The purpose of the frame’s art mode is to display images and artwork with accurate color in normal lighting settings, such as those found in homes or galleries. By skillfully altering brightness and colors to optimize the image, it provides viewers with an immersive and genuine art-watching experience. Approvals for Pantone Validated and SkinTone Validated applications have been earned by The Frame’s cutting-edge QLED display technology, which combines precise emissive rendering of the full gamut of Pantone SkinTone colors and the vast spectrum of all 2,390 colors contained within the Pantone Matching System (PMS).
This certification highlights The Frame’s advanced adaptive color technology, which ensures an exceptional color reproduction capability that meets Pantone’s rigorous standards for authentic color that is nearly indistinguishable to the human eye under standard lighting conditions.
2024 Its prominent features, such as, certify the frame
- Manufacturers and brands can make color-critical choices at every level of the production process with the Pantone Matching System (PMS), a global language of color provided by the Pantone Corporation.
- The Pantone Validated ArtfulColor assessment determines whether displays can accurately replicate a variety of physical Pantone color cards and Pantone SkinTone color cards when exposed to the CIE standard illuminant D65. This illuminant approximates the lighting conditions of typical midday light in Western or Northern Europe.
- Samsung’s position as the market leader in color fidelity was initially acknowledged in 2022 when all QLED TVs received Pantone Validated accreditation. The Frame is the first display in the world to pass this rigorous assessment, further confirming their leadership.
Yongjae Kim, Executive Vice President of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics, said, ConsumersCustomers are expecting more from The Frame. For The Frame, we accomplish our aim of providing the best possible customer experience by giving users a display that portrays art in a true-to-life way. We’ve achieved this with the Pantone Validated ArtfulColor certification and will continue to work towards optimizing the viewing experience further.”
