Galaxy S24 Camera Features and Their Compatibility with Older Samsung Models
Samsung has brought several new camera features for the Galaxy S24 series, as all three phones are equipped with high-end hardware that is capable of balancing all the high-end features, whether they are related to the utility category or the camera enhancements. However, all of these features could be exclusive to the Galaxy S24, but some of them will be available for the older Galaxy devices as well.
The Galaxy S24 camera feature is available for older Galaxy devices
Due to the software capabilities, some of the camera features will also be available for the older Galaxy devices.
Turn motion photo frames into 12MP images or long exposure images
With this feature, users are able to turn any frame of the motion photo into a 12 MP still image by upscaling it with the AI. It is worth noticing that motion photos don’t work with Nightography, so if you want to capture motion photos in low-light conditions, then you have to turn off the Nightography feature by clicking the moon-shaped icon.
Continuity for Samsung Studio Video Editor
Samsung Studio was introduced with One UI 6.0 for several Galaxy devices. It is basically a replacement for the built-in video editor, but at the initial update, it didn’t offer any new features for the devices. But now, with the Galaxy S24, it has grabbed some new features, like now users can alter the speed of the video at different parts of the video, and you can also take advantage of the continuity as you can easily continue the edition while jumping from one Galaxy device to another, including a tablet and laptop.
Improves image and video quality inside the social media apps
Samsung has previously partnered with several social media giants to bring its camera integration to the social media camera, and it has successfully joined hands with Instagram, SnapChat, tick-tock, etc. Initially, it was introduced with the Galaxy S21 devices, and now it is available for the Galaxy S24 devices as well. With more development, the company has enabled some more features, such as HDR images and videos shot through social media apps and viewed in HDR as well. Samsung has confirmed that this feature will be available on the Galaxy S23, Galaxy Z Flip 5, and Galaxy Z Fold 5 through the One UI 6.1 update.
Improved single-take
The single-take function has significantly improved as it now gives the ability to choose according to the requirements, while in the earlier version it used the default camera for action. Additionally, it is now capable of recognizing pets for batter images. This feature will be updated to more Galaxy devices, including the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, Galaxy S22 Ultra, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, Galaxy S23 Ultra, Galaxy Tab S9, Galaxy Tab S9+, Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra, Galaxy Z Flip 4, Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy Z Fold 4, and Galaxy Z Fold 5, with the One UI 6.1 update.
Galaxy S24 camera features that will not be available for other Galaxy devices
Samsung has made some camera features according to the hardware capability of the Galaxy S24 series; therefore, these features will not be available for other Galaxy devices with the One UI 6.1. Let’s have a look.
- Camera features that are dependent on the UniHAL+ structure (mentioned above) from Samsung won’t come to devices older than the Galaxy S24.
- Colorize monochrome (black and white) images.
- Generative AI editing.
- Super HDR live preview in the camera app.
- Nightography for zoomed-in photos and videos.
- Enhanced portrait videos using two camera sensors at once.
