Meta Is Gearing Up To Develop AI Detection Tools For Its Platform
AI-generated content is a hot topic in the technology industry. Meta is taking steps to expand the AI-generated content area.
For a couple of months, Meta has been using a similar tool for images created with the Meta AI image generator to enhance the user experience. This tool will permit Meta users to know while they are seeing AI-generated content through simple text prompts, watermarks, and invisible watermarks.
Meta has announced a new initiative for labeling the AI-generated pictures on its several social media platforms, which are Facebook, Instagram, and Threads, including those generated by different AI systems from other brands. However, AI brands include signals in their AI generators, and there are ways for users to strip out invisible markers, so it is not possible to identify overall AI-generated content till now.
But fortunately, Meta is gearing up to announce a tool that will be powered by the ability to automatically detect AI content, even if it lacks invisible markers. It has also announced that it is setting up alongside industry partners to set its own standards to identify images, videos, and audio as well, which were synthesized using AI and posted on social media apps.
Meta states that it is working on building one of the leading tools in the industry that should be capable of detecting AI-generated content at scale. Basically, with this new system, Meta will label AI content on Facebook, Instagram, and Threads every single time it detects industry-standard indicators of AI-generated content.
It is also known that Meta will be adding brand new features even before the industry can adopt these new AI detection tools, which permit social media users to use AI responsibly and also reveal when the content they are sharing is generated by an AI. Noticeably, if the users fail to label their AI content, they might be penalized.
