Samsung Galaxy Users Get Alert: It’s A Serious Warning For You
Alert! Android users, and especially Galaxy users, get attention. Here is a serious warning for you guys, since dangerous applications are again caught stealing personal information, even banking details.
Noticeably, this time the unfortunate fact is a malicious campaign specifically designed to attack Samsung devices. The recent reports point towards a very dangerous Android dropper. An application is designed for fetching and installing malware once on a device for ever more users. The team warns in a statement: “A unique aspect of this dropper was its malicious code.”
The Anatsa dropper is one of the newest malicious applications that helps to make use of accessibility services provided by the authorities, which offers extra control over devices for helping those with special needs. Back in 2023, Anatsa made headlines, but it has been seen at regular intervals since at least 2021 and always targets Google’s Play Store.
The apps themselves are typical free utility applications that appear to attract multiple casual installations. “These applications often reach the Top 3 in the ‘Top New Free’ category, enhancing their credibility and lowering the guard of potential victims while increasing the chances of successful infiltration.”
The fact is, Google is not the only one to be continually tightening the defenses around its Play Store; it has also been particularly hardening the requirements for applications that ask to request accessibility permissions. It appears that apps have the power to get around this by uploading harmless code with a seemingly plausible need for accessibility services.
However, as per the reports, Android users are automatically protected against known versions of this malware by Google Play Protect, which is on by default on Android devices along with Google Play Services. Google Play Protect has the power to warn users or block applications known to exhibit malicious behavior.
So, basically, it’s a serious warning for Android users to be aware and guarded against permissions and think twice before saying yes. Avoid free applications, and also delete unnecessary applications from smartphones. And don’t trust blindly on free apps unless you trust the developer, since somewhere you are responsible for your safety.
