Google’s New Frontier: AI Training with Reddit User Content

Spread the love

Google is looking forward to new data sources for training its language and machine-learning models, as it has already decided to carry on and expand upon its ventures into artificial intelligence

At the moment, AI tools lose their value as soon as you ask about a bit of inexact information. Also, not more brands are ready to consent, similar to Google using their data for AI training. Now the recent reports are unveiling something new: an “unnamed large AI company” has finally agreed to an agreement with Reddit to access its application programming interface (API) just for training its AI models. Whereas the other reports also revealed that the unnamed large AI brand was Google itself.

Now, finally, Google has confirmed that it has reached an agreement with the social media aggregator. The API of Reddit offers access to its wealth of user-submitted comments and posts and was famously at the heart of controversial changes in 2023, which killed several third-party Reddit apps.

It is expected that soon Reddit will go public and have an estimated value of approximately $10 billion. When it goes public, it could probably sell at least 10% of its shares, and industry insiders have guessed that this initial public offering (IPO) could appear by the end of next month.

On the other hand, Google assures that soon it will get the power so it can be able to use the API to utilize Reddit “real-time” content from the platform. As well, through its cloud partnership with Reddit, it will have the ability to enhance Vertex AI. The interested ones can easily subscribe to Vertex AI as well as its generative AI capabilities if needed, just like the rest of Google’s AI initiatives. Since Google decided to continue to refine its AI tools, it will surely look forward to other new partnerships for training.
