Meta Rejects Google’s Android XR Partnership Offer

In the coming days, the XR headset or platforms will be new-edge technology, where all the tech giants will bring their own designed headsets. Here, Apple has already arrived with its Vision Pro, and now Android users are looking towards Google to introduce an Android ecosystem XR headset on the market. However, here, Google has to rework the project as Meta has rejected the offer to partner with Google on this project.

Why did Meta reject Google’s partnership offer?

Meta wants to control its own XR platform, similar to how Google dominates in controlling Android devices. It also plans to keep its own app store named Quest Store and not rely on Google Play. Additionally, Meta sees the XR as the future dominant technology, so it wants to be the leader in the XR industry.

However, Google is still open to partnering with the XR headset market, but due to those conditions, Meta has decided to go alone to develop the XR headset market, and it is rumored to be taking to LG, but currently the company doesn’t have any existing apps for leverage, so it is worth noticing what steps Meta will take to introduce the XR technology.

On the other side, Samsung is also working on its own XR devices. According to a report the company will make under the code name “Infinite,”  the company initially planned to ship 30,000 units this year. It is reportedly using theQualcomm CPU and the Google operating system, and the company is aiming to become a direct competitor to Apple.
