Published

on

Samsung Galaxy S24 is again in the exam hall as DxOMark tests its camera and audio sector, which is one of the few survivors among the pressed Android flagships.

It is sad to know that the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ phones in a few regions, such as Europe, do not have any performance upgrades as compared to their predecessors. This may be because both of them use the same Exynos chips as before. The Korean giants have attached Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor to the Galaxy S24 Ultra, whereas the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ are powered by the Snapdragon processor only in certain regions

Recently, DxOMark tested the camera quality and audio quality of the base variant of the of the Galaxy S24. So to make things clearer, here we are mentioning the detailed key specs of the camera and audio of the Galaxy S24.

The Galaxy S24 features a triple camera setup, which includes:

  • A 50MP main sensor of 1/1.56 inches, 1μm pixels, f/1.8 aperture, PDAF, and OIS
  • A 12MP ultra-wide-angle sensor of ½.55 inches, 1.4μm pixels, f/2.2 aperture, providing a 120-degree viewing angle
  • A 10MP telephoto sensor of 1/3.94 inches, 1μm pixels, f/2.4 aperture, PDAF, and OIS enable 3x optical zoom.

The audio compartment of the Galaxy S24 includes:

  • Stereo sound
  • Dual speakers
  • Dolby Atmos support
  • Fine Tuning by AKG
  • Dual Microphones

The camera of the Galaxy S24 scored 133 points, the result of the weighted average between the 134 points assigned to basic photographic qualities, 65 points going to bokeh effect qualities, 69 points gathered for the fidelity of the shot preview the shot actually captured, 135 points gained for the zoom qualities, and the last 125 points for the effect in video recording.

According to the calculation of all these points, the Galaxy S24 ranks 28th in the overall ranking as well as 4th in the ranking of only high-end smartphones. That’s not bad.

Jumping on the detailed detailing of the shots, it scored 153 points for outdoor captures and videos with ambient light scenarios greater than 1000 lux. On the indoor side, it scored 136 points for shots and videos with an acceptable lighting scenario. Then 100 points for shots and videos in low light and 129 points for group shots and videos as well as portraits.

According to DxOMark, the Galaxy S24 delivers accurate exposure as well as contrast in most of the scenes tested, showing a pleasant color rendition in outdoor senses and with essential ambient lighting. But he also added that the presence of the noise, both in the shots and videos, is emphasized in most conditions. Some color inaccuracies, such as incorrect color shading, also occur.

Jumping on the audio quality of the Galaxy S24:

The Galaxy S24 scored 134 points in audio quality, 132 points in the ‘Plyaback’ area, and 138 points in the “Recording” area. As for the calculation of these scores, it ranked 50th in the global ranking, whereas it was 13th in the ranking of only high-end smartphones.

As the DxOMark in the playback shows, the shows, the Samsung Galaxy S24 offers a stable timbre at every volume, good dynamics, and a better “width” even after the small size. It just delivers a consistent sound quality across volume levels. But he also mentioned that sound quality can change with volume, plus he is average at handling audio artifacts.

On the comparison side, the Galaxy S23 scored 133 points in both the photographic sector and the audio sector.
