Samsung’s first rollable phone could support a mouse
Samsung is already leading the foldable market, and now it’s looking forward to expanding its ways in the rollable market by introducing the ever-first rollable smartphone.
Repeating the same model and design is not the case for the Korean giant. Now, to prove this statement, it is working on bringing a rollable phone. This is being speculated by a patent filing with the ‘USPTO’, which stands for US Patent and Trademark Office, pointing to what Samsung engineers are working on.
The report reports the details of the patent documentation that hinted at clues regarding Samsung’s possible plans. However, there is not enough detailed information regarding this rollable smartphone, but it’s reported that the upcoming rollable smartphone could arrive with a unique feature: mouse support.
Somewhere, it hints that the phone’s display could expand to a certain size or aspect ratio and probably benefit from the mouse input. It is also expected that it could boost productivity through desktop-like multitasking. Generally, adjusting the screen size of devices, for instance, smartphones, tablets, and notebooks, is a manual process that often requires specific manipulation of specific mechanisms, and it appears that the brand is looking forward to changing this aspect with its forthcoming rollable device.
For now, it seems that users would have to perform actions such as tapping the touch area on the back of the device, clicking on icons, or even moving the mouse cursor to the edge of the screen to expand or lessen the measurement of the display. Regarding the Samsung patent, it’s being speculated that the mouse support will probably have a motorized mechanism, which would automatically adjust the visible screen size based on user input, maybe through the mouse or touch.
However, based on the reports and leaks, Samsung has yet to release any hint regarding this patent, so it will be interesting to see whether this patent will transform into an actual device for marketing or not.
