Samsung is rolling out the Galaxy S20 series and is getting a May 2024 security patch update in the US. As of writing, the update has been spotted on the carrier-locked devices, and it is expected that the company will soon provide the update to the unlocked variant as well.

Users who own the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra locked to T-Mobile, US Cellular, and Sprint can identify the latest update by the firmware version numbers G981USQS9HXE2, G986USQS9HXE2, and G988USQS9HXE2. Meanwhile, these devices are getting the update on the Verizon network with different firmware version numbers, G981VSQS9HXE2, G986VSQS9HXE2, and G988VSQS9HXE2, respectively.

The May 2024 security patch update will not provide any significant changes for your device, but it will provide some enhancements to the overall security of the device. According to the official documentation, the latest update will improve the overall security of the devices. Going into the details, the May 2024 security patch brings more than 50 fixes, where Google has included 31 fixes and Samsung has brought 25 fixes, which improve the overall security of the devices.

If you are using the Galaxy S20 series in the US, now you can update your device to the latest security patch by going to the software update menu from the system settings. If a new update is available for your device, click on the update button, but if you don’t receive any new updates, just wait until you receive the update.
