Galaxy Watch 7 May Feature Blood Glucose Monitoring, Hints Samsung Health
Samsung is aggressively working to expand the functionality and compatibility of its wearable smartwatches by offering new features. Now it has been spotted gearing up to introduce an AGEs index feature that could help gauge users’ biological aging process.
Samsung is all set to host its next Galaxy Unpacked event in 2024 on July 10 in Paris. At the event, it will debut theGalaxy Watch 7 series, which will bring dozens of new health monitoring features and a few AI-powered tools to enhance the health monitoring experience. The new GalaxyWatch 7 might come with blood sugar monitoring, but it’s not confirmed yet.
The interesting part is that Samsung is adding new features to older watches if possible. The giant might use an AGEs index to track the risk of heart disease and diabetes in place of directly monitoring blood sugar. As per the report from the Android Authority, Samsung Health will soon offer a way to track your AGEs over time by creating an index of readings.
This AGEs index will offer a sense of personal metabolic health. The AGEs are claimed to predict the risk of diabetes, heart attack, and stroke. Samsung’s supposed partner for the AGEs index states that AGEs play a “pivotal role in the development of chronic age-related diseases such as diabetes, renal failure, and cardiovascular disease.” Whereas diagnostics also claims that a few AGEs have a characteristic fluorescence, making it possible to measure this non-invasively.
The forthcoming Galaxy Watch 7 is expected to use a new way to track the risk of diseases such as diabetes. This method would involve measuring AGEs without even requiring needles. The watch would then use these statistics to count an AGEs index. A well-reliable tipster showcases a timeline of nearly five years for noninvasive glucose monitoring to arrive on the market in “some form.”
However, it has yet to be clear whether the latest AGEs feature will be compatible with older Galaxy Watches. Samsung has discussed glucose monitoring alongside metabolic health before, so there may be some dots to connect here. It will be interesting to see exactly how this new functionality will work and which older Galaxy watches will be compatible with this feature.
