Google to Bring Samsung’s One UI Battery Protection Feature to Android 15

Samsung’s One UI is a powerful package of tons of features and customization options, including a battery protection facility. Now Google is expected to bring this convenient feature with its new branding ‘Charging optimization’ feature to extend battery life through Android 15 QPR1 Beta 1.
Google is bringing One UI’s convenient battery’s life-saving feature with the latest Android 15 QPR1 Beta 1 update.
Google’s next major OS, Android 15, update is expected to include a charging optimization feature similar to the one found on Samsung phones. Initially, Google teased this feature in Android 15 Beta 4, and it is now available in the latest Android 15 QPR1 Beta 1.
This feature permits users to limit their phone’s charge to 80% to extend battery life. Samsung Galaxy users already have this option within the battery protection feature. One UI offers three options within a battery protection feature, which are as follows:
- Basic, Adaptive, Maximum
The basic option is to charge the battery up to 100% and stop until the battery level drops down to 95%, and then charging will start again. The adaptive option uses maximum while you are asleep and switches to basic before you wake up. Sleep time is estimated based on your phone usage patterns. The last Maximum one will stop charging when it reaches 80%, which is now what Google is bringing with its latest update.
A user on Reddit reported that they got a notification prompt to enable charging optimization after downloading to the first Android 14 QPR1 Beta 1; they can enable the feature directly from the notification. It’s reported that enabling the charging optimization feature but unfortunately unable to deactivate it. This points out that a toggle for the feature unfortunately might be missing from the settings. Rolling back to an older Android version can fix this issue, but it might require a data wipe.
