Samsung leads by Google in offering software updates to its Galaxy Watches

Samsung has been the leading Android manufacturer when it comes to providing software updates, with its flagship Galaxy smartphones getting rich 7 years of software updates.

While, on the flip side, the Galaxy watches, including the newer Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra, are applicable for 4 Wear OS and 5 security updates, more than the newly launched Google Pixel Watch 3.

Google just introduced its third generation, the Pixel Watch 3 alongside the Pixel 9 smartphone series, which is however guaranteed to receive up to 3 years of software updates from its launch that’s significantly shorter than what Samsung offers to its Galaxy Watches.

Although Google has upped its ante, with its Pixel models becoming the first to receive 7 years of software updates, things have not changed despite launching its third generation Pixel Watch 3, which is officially confirmed to receive up to 3 years of software updates from its launch, including Wear OS updates and security patches.

Moreover, Samsung equipped its Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra with the newer Exynos W1000 processor, while Google just retains the same Qualcomm’s SW5100 chipset on its Pixel Watch 3 as its predecessor, which could probably lead to an older and slower Pixel Watch 3’s chip.

On that note, this eventually signifies that Samsung, no doubt, leads from its rival Google, with its Galaxy Watches, including the newer Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra and older watches, getting 4 years of software update that includes 4 Wear OS and 5 years of security patches from its launch.
