Android Owners May Soon See Changes in How Notifications Are Displayed
Android 15 has been running in its testing phase for a long time, and when Google officially released a new source code, named AOSP, for Android 15 to other Android phones, other Android partners, including Samsung, have started utilising it in their own way. Meanwhile, this AOSP more or less includes some folks that eventually hints that people might soon witness a new way notifications drop on their Android phones.
The folk on Android 15 AOSP certainly replaces the notification icons in the status bar, in the notification bar, and in the AOD model while also showing a new yet interesting effect.
The time when Google published a new source code for Android 15 AOSP, allowing other Android partners, including Samsung, to eventually dig into what exactly the next Android OS will offer. Meanwhile, a few experiments have been noticed that hint at some interesting changes within the notification icons on the status bar, in AOD, and finally in the notification bar.
One code in the status bar shows the app main icons themselves, while replacing it with the monochromatic ones as the notification icons. Thus, this makes it easier to understand what’s inside the notification at a glance, while the monochromatic app icons make it difficult to contrast.
The same thing goes with Always on Display, as except for the main app icons, the monochromatic app icons become invisible.
Moreover, these are just experiments performed by Google, and while not just this, the company is on track for bringing a few more changes for the way Android displays its notifications. Also, if this aforementioned experiment is to be believed, it will be interesting to see how Samsung will adopt to this change in its upcoming One UI 7 version, which will be based on Android 15.
