Galaxy S26 Ultra with Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Might Hit Unthinkable Speeds
We are still waiting for the Samsung Galaxy S25 series, and rumors have already started teasing the fan community by revealing about the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s processor.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra’s processor is still a controversial topic since previously it was rumored to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, and now it seems that it could be powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite.
Meanwhile, a new report is blowing in the market that the next to next upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra will feature a significantly faster Snapdragon processor compared to its predecessor. This new chipset, potentially named either Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 or Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, is expected to deliver a substantial performance boost for smartphones.
The rumor from China suggests that the next Snapdragon chipset will deliver a base speed of over 4 GHz and a 5 GHz peak speed, making it an insanely powerful smartphone chip. It seems that custom Oryon cores from Qualcomm might make such a performance boost possible.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is its first chip to feature the new custom CPU cores. If the chip delivers speeds up to 4.47 GHz, it already offers a 30% boost compared to the Gen 3. On the next side, a 15% speed gain over that would be substantial for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 to achieve the reported speeds. The rumored performance gains of the next-gen Snapdragon chipset appear achievable, noticeably considering these figures might be for the standard version. This points out the Galaxy S26 series, which is expected to benefit efficiently from such a high-end, powerful chipset.
The new report suggests that Qualcomm is looking forward to dual-sourcing the Gen 5/Elite 2 from TSMC and Samsung Foundry. The standard version of the forthcoming Snapdragon chipset will be manufactured based on the 3nm process of TSMC. The overclocked version could be exclusive to the Galaxy S26 series and offer even faster speeds.
