Samsung One UI 7 Release delayed

  • One UI 7 Still in Development Stage

One UI 7 is set to be a game-changing update that will greatly enhance the Galaxy experience. While still in development, early demos on Galaxy S24 Ultra models have already given users a glimpse of its smooth performance, along with the new features and improvements One UI 7 brings.

  • Samsung needs more time to develop

According to a Samsung community forum moderator, the company will take longer than usual to open the One UI 7 beta program as it focuses on developing each update. The exact release date for the One UI 7 beta has not yet been determined, as confirmed in a recent response.

  • Amidst development fluctuations

Samsung is working on One UI 7 while it suffered from certain fluctuations when undergoing its development and verification procedures internally. This was significantly one of the reasons behind its launch delay. Another reason is expected to be Android 15 not entering its stability channel.

  • Another reason for the delay is due to One UI 6.1.1

The One UI 6.1.1 build debuted with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 and Flip6, which could be another major reason for the One UI 7 getting an indefinite delay as the One UI 6.1.1 build is also awaited to launch.

One UI 6.1.1 update

On the flip side, it’s further reported that Samsung could even bring several new features of the Galaxy Z Fold6 to the flagship Galaxy S24 lineup with the One UI 6.1.1 version.

Expected One UI 7 Features and Changes:

Plenty of leaks and rumors regarding several features and other relevant changes that are expected to arrive with One UI 7 have already surfaced online.

  • A cleaner design for the One UI 7 home screen

It was reported that Samsung may add two new options within the Home screen settings. These options include Classic and Bold under the icon and widget style tab, where the Classic option will show up the apps along with their labels, while the Bold option is for bigger app icons without the app labels. This significantly resembles Apple’s iOS 18 home screen, while it could be a revamped home screen design with One UI 7.

  • One-handed camera UI and a new camera icon

With One UI 7, Samsung is expected to revamp its Camera app UI, changing it completely to offer users a more convenient one-hand operation experience. The additional camera modes, which pop up when tapping the More option, have now shifted to the bottom of the screen and are arranged within a box, replacing the + Plus button with the Edit button.

  • Battery percentage indication

Now, the battery percentage will be added inside the battery icon, which will be enabled by default, allowing users to view their phone’s battery insights straight from the battery icon at the top.

  • Fluent animations

One UI 7 is expected to focus on bringing fluency to the animations to significantly enhance and boost performance, including app opening and closing animations, booting, and more.

  • Large Folders

Folders have always been a signature function of the Android ecosystem, while the introduction of large folders will now help Galaxy users have a more convenient experience. With One UI 7, Samsung is expected to adopt the facility of folders, where the folders will acquire a 3 x 3 grid measurement layout, allowing users to add up to eight apps that can be accessed with just a single tap.

  • New app designs, a new notification panel, and more

With One UI 7, Samsung is expected to introduce an all-new set of app icons and a revamped design. These apps significantly include Gallery, Weather, Dialer, Contacts, Clock, Camera, Internet Browser, and more.

Then, there’s a revamped two-page notification panel, where users will now have separate scrolling for notifications and quick settings. The notifications will open by dropping down from the left, while the Quick Settings will open from the right.

In addition, another leaked feature list consists of more interesting features and changes, including a new background interface, a charging animation bar, unlock animations, more lock screen widgets, a pull-down shortcut bar, notifications that can be independent or merged, and more.
